We also have the 39 acre Biodiversity Park populated with a variety of rabbits, foxes, butterflies, pond life, insects and birds. It is also home to the giant sundial which sites on top of the central hill which also marks the highest point in North Tyneside.
In order to take some time out away from the computer screens we took a 2km stroll around Cobalt, hitting a couple nature hot spot on the way. you can follow our route here.

The Big Butterfly Count Friday 17th July- Sunday 9th August The Big Butterfly Count is a UK wide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment by counting the amount of butterflies you see.
It is easy to get involved, download the handy butterfly chart or the FREE IOS and Android app to help you identify each species and record the butterflies you spot.
As mentioned we have some beautiful nature spots around the park, pick a lovely sunny day and take a 15 minute stroll or find a comfy spot and join in the count.
You can then add your counts to the website or app. We did our very own nature walk around cobalt and spotted 7 butterflies and 2 different species- you can follow our walk here.
