Arriva has announced plans to cut some services which operate in Newcastle & North Tyneside and are due to take effect from 3rd September.
Go North East, Stagecoach & Nexus have announced new services to help replace the cuts made by Arriva and help protect local services in the area as best as possible.
Please see quick breakdown below:
Arriva 51 Service = Cancelled.
Nexus will replace this with a new service 351 (operator TBC). Route will mainly remain unchanged however minor changes will be seen in the Holystone Park area.
Arriva 52 = Cancelled
Stagecoach will introduce a new service 37 & Go North East will introduce a new service 352 as a replacement.
Arriva 53=Cancelled
Go North East will introduce a new 353 service. Follows the same route as the 53 with a slightly revised route in North Shields town centre to serve new Transport Hub.
Arriva 54= Cancelled
Go North East will introduce a new service 354. Will largely follow the same route however will now serve Benton Park Road & Four Lane Ends instead of Longbenton Estate.
Arriva 55 = Cancelled
Stagecoach will be extending their existing service 38 to additionally serve Forest Hall and Go North East will be introducing a new 355 service to replace the Arriva 55.
Arriva 335= Changes
To avoid duplication the existing route between Hadrian Park- North Shields will be cancelled and a revised route will be introduced between Four Land Ends Interchange - Benton ASDA. Go North East's 309 & 307 will provide frequent links between the cancelled areas.
Please note the 335 route will no longer serve Palmersville or Forest Hall.
Arriva 553= Changes
Cancelled between Freeman Hospital- Battle Hill. Nexus intends to add a limited number of AM/PM peak trips between Wallsend-Freeman Hospital only. Timetable TBC.
