Understanding Behaviours - Unconscious bias, allyship & inclusive language

This workshop/seminar will focus on unconscious bias, pronouns, allyship, Inclusive language and active bystanders.
The seminar will be ran by WO2 (SQMS)Deborah Penny from the British Army. WO2 Penny joined the army in 1982 and was promoted to Sgt as a Explosive Ordanance Disposal Operator. She has done tours in America, Beliza, Sardinia, Norway, Brunei, Iraq and Afghanistan to name a few.
In 2004 Penny came out to the Army as Transgender and in 2012 was the first Transgender soldier to be deployed and operational on the front line.
She now uses her experiences to provide advice to the chain of command on Transgender issues and set up a network for women and LGBTQ+ personnel.
Penny is now the Warrant Officer for diversity and engagement and most recently shortlisted for a lifetime achiever award at the National Diversity Awards 2022.

The main seminar will run from 9:30- 10:30
From 10:30-11:30 there will be a chance for a Q&A and networking or if you can not make the main session you can use this time to drop in and speak to Deborah individually.
