Walk to Work at Cobalt Park

If you live within a mile of Cobalt Park, walking really is one of the best ways to travel to work. Cobalt has an extensive network of waggonways surrounding the park, with resurfaced and well-lit paths connecting local residential areas directly to the site, making it easy to enjoy a scenic and stress-free walk into the office.

Cobalt Park is also surrounded by beautiful green spaces, helping you feel closer to nature throughout the working day. Whether you fancy a peaceful lunchtime stroll, a quick break from your desk, or even a walking meeting with colleagues, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside and recharge.

To help you make the most of the area, we’ve created a selection of walking routes around Cobalt Park, with a variety of distances and difficulty levels to suit everyone.

Cobalt Free Zone

Did you know Cobalt Park is similar in size to Newcastle city centre? To make travelling around the park easier, staff can take advantage of the Cobalt Free Zone.

The scheme has been introduced to encourage more sustainable and active travel, allowing staff to walk to the boundaries of the park and then use their MORE Card for free onward travel within the zone.

From 1 June 2026, the Free Zone will be extended to Northumberland Park Interchange, making it even easier to combine walking and public transport. Staff can now walk or travel to Northumberland Park and then use their MORE Card for free travel for the remainder of their journey into Cobalt Park.
